Happy International #DotDay! Today, millions of kids and educators around the world will celebrate the spirit of creativity famously featured in Peter H. Reynolds’ beloved storybook classic, “The Dot,” which is part of the Speakaboos library.
In celebration of the day, Speakaboos is thrilled to announce “Ish,” Mr. Reynold’s acclaimed follow up to “The Dot,” has also been added to its library of digital storybooks!
“Ish” is the story of Ramon, who loves to draw but calls into question his abilities when his creations are criticized for not being realistic enough. Luckily, Ramon has a spirited little sister who sees the world differently and helps him appreciate that there is more than getting things just “right.” It’s ok to be “right-ish” and to think “ish-ly.”
“Ish” receives the unique Speakaboos treatment that encourages kids to read along
with highlighted text in a digital storybook format. In this “Read to Me” mode, words are highlighted as the story progresses which supports literacy skills including fluency and vocabulary as well as print awareness and listening skills.
“Peter H. Reynolds has given the children’s storybook world something truly special with‘The Dot’ and ‘Ish,’. The focus on creativity and self-expression is a valuable message to kids and they are wonderful titles to have in the Speakaboos library. We’re honored to be able to share these stories with our young readers in homes and classrooms around the world in celebration of International Dot Day.” – Dr. Alice Wilder, Chief Learning Officer, Speakaboos
