RECALL: Drop-side Cribs from Stork Craft and Fisher-Price

I hate to be a Debbie Downer and post two recall notices in a row–but this one is apparently one of the largest crib recalls of all time, and seems very important.Drop-side cribs branded Stork Craft (sold Jan. 1993 – Oct. 2009) Fisher-Price (sold Oct. 1997 – Dec. 2004) have been voluntarily recalled due to the possibility of the drop-side become detached and the infant entrapped.Please check the recall notice to see if your crib is affected (cribs with fixed sides are not included in the recall), and contact Stork Craft for a repair kit.

RECALL: Maclaren umbrella strollers

Just a quick reminder to keep little hands and fingers away from any folding product or hinge (doors, cabinets, playpens, etc.).Maclaren is voluntarily recalling strollers after 12 reports of kids getting their fingers caught in the folding mechanism while the stroller is being unfolded. RECALL: 1 million play yards from Kolcraft and others

Kolcraft is recalling their Travelin’ Tot play yard series, as well as yards sold under the brands Carter’s, Sesame Beginnings, Jeep, Care Bear, Contours and Eric Carle. The play yard’s side rail can fail to latch properly, causing the yard to collapse unexpectedly. Recall: Kids’hoodies from Macy’s

This is one of the weirder product recalls we’ve seen, but you can never be too safe! Macy’s is voluntarily recalling 33,000 boys’ and girls’ hooded sweatshirts, in small and medium sizes, from the brands Epic Threads and Greendog, sold between July 2008 and March 2009.Apparently the drawstring poses a strangulation risk, though no injuries have been reported. Customers are advised to remove the drawstring, or return the product to Macy’s for a full refund. For more information, call Macy’s at (888) 257-5949

RECALL – Maytag and other refrigerators with fire hazard

Maytag is recalling 1.6 million refrigerator/freezer units due to an electrical problem that may cause overheating and fire. Kellogg’s warning: Don’t eat Austin or Keebler Peanut Butter Crackers

Yesterday the Kellogg Co. recommended its customers not to eat its peanut butter crackers, which may be tainted with salmonella. The affected products are Austin- and Keebler- branded:– Toasted peanut butter sandwich crackers.– Peanut butter and jelly sandwich crackers.– Cheese and peanut butter sandwich crackers.– Peanut butter-chocolate sandwich crackers.The warning is just a precaution, so far there have been no reported incidents of illness from Kellogg’s products.The concern stems from one of Kellogg’s suppliers, the Peanut Corporation of America, which has been linked to a salmonella outbreak, and sells peanut butter under the brands Parnell’s Pride and King Nut. These brands are not sold retail, only to food industries and institutions such as hospitals and schools, who have been warned to discard the peanut butter.Kellogg’s is temporarily removing these items from stores until the issue is resolved.
